The printed publication of the project contains seven uniquely sized, modular booklets held together with a steel prong fastener, and encased in a hard-shell enflute envelope. Each performance is documented in a separate booklet, with size, colour and paper stock used to add further differentiation. An introductory essay and field guide were included. The overall design taps into a “lab tech” aesthetic to hint at the research-based nature of the project. Their work covers publishing academic journals, hosting international conferences and the ongoing book series “The Study of Time”. We approached their brand redesign with the goal of matching bold and playful design with minimalism and clarity. The colour palette is bright, memorable and energetic, grounded in the primary pairing of ISST’s signature Cobalt Blue and White. The film is a journey through opposing duality via the spaces of architect Raymond Moriyama’s brutalist masterpiece the Ontario Science Centre. It examines how even the slightest disruptions can force us to re-examine the serenity we feel in once familiar spaces. Do then challenging these routines allow us to evolve where we no longer experience disruption as discomfort, but rather a new transitory state of growth? The title designs and typography mirrored this sense of layering, repetition, motion, and disruption.
